Biography

Shaorun currently works as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he received his PhD in 2021. His primary research areas are combustion and fire safety engineering, particularly smouldering combustion, wood/peat fire, Wildland-urban-interface fire, material flammability, wildfire dynamics, and fire safety in novel energy technologies. He is also interested in problems relating to structure and industry fire protection, biomass and sustainable energy, environmental science, and geophysics.
Shaorun has been an editor of the IAFSS website and served as president of the SFPE (Society of Fire Protection Engineers) HK Student Chapter. He is also the winner of the SFPE Student Research Grant (first recipient in Asia), The Great Bay Area STEM Excellence Award, the Tree Grant from the Association of Fire Ecology (AFE), the CFPA Best PhD Thesis Award, and Top Award of the Student Essay Competition from the HK Institute of Engineers.

林少润,美国加州大学伯克利分校机械工程系博士后研究员,2021年博士毕业于香港理工大学消防安全工程研究中心。林博士的主要研究领域涉及火灾科学和消防安全工程,特别是森林火灾、森林城市交界域火灾、阴燃火灾、木材/泥炭火灾和新能源技术中的消防安全。林博士还涉猎与结构和工业防火、生物质燃烧、可持续能源、环境科学和地球物理学有关的研究课题。林博士目前在Combustion and Flame, Proceedings of Combustion Institute, Science of Total Environment, Fire Safety Journal等期刊发表了30多篇期刊论文(其中一座或通讯20余篇),并有40多次会议交流的经历。林少润博士是IAFSS官网的编辑,并曾担任国际消防工程师学会(SFPE)香港学生分会主席。林博士是亚洲首位SFPE学生研究奖得主,并曾获得大湾区STEM卓越奖、中国消防协会优秀博士论文和火灾生态学协会(AFE)Tree grant等。
